Welcome to CONAIR!!!

Well, I don’t know if I ever mentioned it here before, and I really cant be arsed to double check, but every 7 months we all have to spend a whole 30 days on RESERVE! In terms of bad rosters its not so bad, because at least you still have the hope of getting nice flights, but not knowing where you will be heading next can be both exciting and daunting at times!
However so far I cannot complain hey! My reserve started on the 11th of this month and so far the only duty I had was an easy 30-hour layover in London Gatwick! It was a “special flight”, and when I got to the Briefing Room I knew it wasn’t a normal “Special Flight”! We had only male Crew in the room, which NEVER happens on Emirates. Normally the ratio is 80% Fish to 20% Sausages, so I knew there was something extra “Special” there for us! When the Purser came in, he asked if we knew what was going on, and some of us did, but most of us only knew that we were Dead Heading* to London and operating a flight back on the way back. So yeah, then he said: Well, welcome to CONAIR! For those who haven’t seen the movie, its about a flight carrying prisoners that crashes in the US. All the prisoners escaped! In our case they weren't prisoners but deprotees! We very often have a few deportees on board, they're normally of a civilised type though, so they don’t need such “Special” treatment, but apparently once a month they fill a flight with 20 of those who refuses to leave the UK by themselves, so they ‘force” them to! The poor things have to stay the whole flight tied to their seats, handcuffed and having 2 Emirates security guards watching each one of them throughout the flight! Mirrors had to be removed from all toilets. No cutlery was allowed, and even us Crew had to eat with plastic spoons! The Flight Deck Crew aren’t allowed to come out of the Cockpit without warning us first and a lot of other extra security measures had to be followed! I just wonder what the poor things can do once strapped to their seats with two “wardrobes” constantly guarding them!?! Anyway, it was a very easy flight hey. The service took us 30 minutes, if that, and we could all just sit back and relax both ways, to and from London! On the way there we flew on our newest aircraft, the B777-300 ER-ULR, which is fitted with flat beds on Business Class! Very very NOICE! Hehehe…
When I got back to Dubes, I checked my Roster and guess where Caio is heading next??? NEW YORK!!! On a Saturday!!! Bring it on!!!

Xoxo

* Dead Heading: When we travel as a passenger on a flight, without working, and get paid for half of the flying hours!!!

4 days in BrisVegas!!!

Hey hey everyone!!!

Well, I know I have been extremely lazy lately, and have barely written anything on this silly Blog for ages, but to be quite honest, sometimes I just cant be bothered! Hehehe… Plus I bet that 98% of all of you wouldn’t have the time to sit there and read everything I write anyway! You most probably just quickly check out the pictures and ta ta!
So yeah, on the 31st of last month I left boring Dubai on a 9-day trip to Singapore and then Brisbane. Francky had the very same duty, but left 2 days earlier! Which was just perfect because we still had the weekend there together, so I could finally meet all his close friends!
The layover in Singapore, both on the way there and back, was just WHATEVER! Did a bit of shopping and slept a lot. After all I had to save my energies for the best part, which was Brissy!
I arrived there on the Saturday morning, and since Franck was operating his Shuttle to Auckland that day, I just slept the whole day! That afternoon I caught up with Timmy and Kelly and we had a few Hoogarden at Belgium Beer café while we waited for the Frenchy to arrive back from his flight! On the same night we went out for dinner with the lot; Rubini, Kevin, Jacquie, Marc-Andre, etc… I had seen hundreds of pictures of all these people before, and heard thousands of stories, so it kind of felt like we all knew one another already! We then went out clubbing and had a great time at the Wickham and Empire that night.
On Sunday we did fuck all! Pretty much slept the whole day hey! Had dinner in this really nice asian style restaurant and had a few Red Bull and Vodka with Francky’s Crew at Family. Got back to the Hotel 4 am that night, and had to wake up to operate my Shuttle to Auckland at 5am! Don’t ask me how I managed, because I don’t even know myself!!!
When I got back to Brissy that night, Francky had left already, but I still caught up with Timmy and Kelly for drinks and had a very nice dinner at Rubini’s on tuesday night.
Well, it was great to meet everyone! And I just love being back in Australia so much that I keep asking the very same question all the time! Why did I ever leave? :(
